With summer right around the corner, you don’t want to be caught without sunscreen to protect your skin from the harsh sun. Here’s how to include it in your daily make-up routine.
Primer with sunscreen
Some primers come with sun protection as high as SPF50+. A primer will create a good base for your make-up and using a primer with sunscreen means you don’t have to add more product to your routine.
Use sunscreen under your foundation
If you are a woman of colour, you know how ashy and ghostly sunscreen can turn on you, so some of us end up leaving it for just those days at beach. But, we can’t stress the importance of sun protection enough even for us melanin queens.
It’s all about trying different brands to find the one that suits you best. Look in the direction of products that are made for darker skin tones. Your product should come with no sticky oil residue, and be able to give you a matte finish.
Once you find the right product, dab the right amount onto to your skin and let it sit for a minute before you apply your foundation.
Foundation with sunscreen
It could be liquid or powder foundation, choose one that has built-in sunscreen. If, like many of us, your skin is oily, choose something that is shine-free and stays matte all day long.
Use a tinted sunscreen
Tinted sunscreens are double duty products because you can get a bit of coverage with your sunscreen. This eliminates the need for foundation, which is great especially for the hotter months when you want to wear less make-up. Or use a product that works three times as hard, like a tinted SPF moisturiser.
Opt for an SPF setting spray or powder
