Mothers who take a vitamin D supplement during pregnancy could help prevent their newborn baby developing asthma and respiratory infections, say scientists.A study in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology suggests that taking vitamin D in pregnancy may affect babies' immune systems – a known factor for childhood asthma.
